KISLAKI Siller 2024
Siller is a unique crossover between a rosé and a light red. This exciting wine offers added depth and complexity, while remaining approachable in style.
This "rosé plus" has a vibrant ruby colour and presents a complex nose filled with fresh red berries, particularly sour cherries and raspberries. The well-balanced palate is bursting with an intense fruity flavour, while spicy notes create an irresistible twist. Its refreshing acidity and pronounced tannic structure make it an incredibly food-friendly option.
What is Siller?
Siller (pronounced "shiller") is a speciality from Hungary and Germany and is one of the oldest styles of pink wine, although it is quite rare today. Traditionally, it was made by picking and fermenting red and white grapes together, but now it is primarily produced using red grapes, mainly the indigenous Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch). In the production of siller, the grape skins are soaked in the juice for a longer period than in rosé, resulting in a deeper colour, a more concentrated texture, and added character and 'bite'.
Food Pairing
Siller pairs beautifully with traditional Hungarian dishes that use paprika, such as goulash soup and chicken paprikash. It also complements Italian classics like pizza and pasta Bolognese. Additionally, it can be used to create a refreshing spritz during the summer months.
